Gasland: Can You Light Your Water On
Fire?
DVD: TN 881.G37 2010
As the number
of drilling sites for natural gas increases, the water in several areas across
the country (including Wyoming) is being contaminated and many residents are
able to run their faucets and light their tap water on fire. This ecological disaster affects 34 states.
Filmmaker
John Fox travels across America to learn about hydraulic fracturing - also
called “fracking” - and asks questions
about the safety of the practice.
I really
enjoyed watching this documentary. I
learned a lot about how natural gas is acquired and the dangers and pollutants
that result. Citizens may want to learn
more about the process of drilling for natural gas before supporting the idea
that natural gas is a good, ecological alternative to other fuel sources.
