Sometimes in life we are truly more focused on our final destination in life. We look upon arriving as the end, but in fact sometimes it truly is more about the journey than the final destination. I picked this book because I did not want to lose sight of where I am. I know one day I will arrive at my final destination, but I don’t want to forget the journey I took to get there. Each picture in this book served as a sort of reminder that wherever you are on your path to stop and enjoy your surroundings. Life truly is a journey and it is our job to live it fully.

The Wizard of Oz

One of my favorite movies growing up was “The Wizard of Oz.” This movie is not only a great adaptation from page to screen, but it has to be one of the most influential stories of all. We all dream on some days about being in another world and escaping from our problems, but what happens when that becomes reality. This is a great story that can give great life values. Enjoy the movie!

How much is too much? How far is too far? “Friday Night Lights” takes a look at a Texas town and their love for their local football team. What is interesting about this story isn’t that it’s a feel good story, but a story about what parents, coaches, and even the high school athletes will go to just to win a football game. This book will give you more questions than answers and a shocking look at how some Texas towns emotionally invest into their local teams.

This story is based around Lionel, who served as speech therapist to the King of England, and his personal diaries that he kept. Take a moment and enjoy this wonderful listen and look into history.

What is fascinating about this story isn’t necessarily the events that took place, but what transpired because of those events and that would be lasting relationships. This story above all else is a relational story that not only connects the characters, but takes the reader and make them a part of the story as well. Believe it or not, I am an avid fan of history. I love seeing how people in different eras functioned. One other thing you should know about me, I am a fan of baseball. This book does not only bring two of my favorite things together, but it does so in that it takes you back to that era without you ever noticing. This book takes old newspaper stories and recaptures the tale of a three team pennant race. From the beginning of the season until the end, this season was known as the greatest pennant race to ever occur in the history of baseball.

Between a Rock and a Hard Place

I love reading biographies. To me, there is nothing more interesting than getting another person's perspective on life, love, spirituality, or just where they came from. This book stands out for myself, not because of what he went through, but on how the experience changed his life forever. Yes, the movie "127 Hours" is great and worth the watch, but this book gives you a little something more than the movie. Enjoy the read and remember to tell someone where you are going! :-)

What fascinates me about J.R. Tolkien is his ability to capture the imagination and tell stories, almost so that they sound and feel like actual history. “Tolkien’s World” gives us some great insight to who Tolkien really was as a person. Such a great book to get a real feel for Tolkien’s writings and to g9ive us insight for our daily lives. I hope you enjoy this book!!

The Greeks: Crucible of Civilization

I have to say that history fascinates me. I love reading and watching documentaries about ancient civilizations and empires that once existed. This documentary is an astonishing tale of the Greek Civilization. If you have 140 minutes of free time to spare than I highly recommend that you spend them watching this video. This story is one of my favorites. I would highly recommend that you read the book, however if you don't seem to have the time to read, what about just listening to the book? The next best thing if you are like me and don't have time to sit down and read. This is great to listen to going between classes or listening to as you drive.
